No one is really sure what to do when kids come into a program- be it a school or a parish- and don’t have the foundations of Catholic family life. Do we try to make up for it? Shame, blame, or even force parents into participation? Try to reverse engineer experiences? Just quietly accept that those kids are going to have to wait until later when they have more autonomy?

Many kids- let’s be honest, in a lot of places the majority of kids- are not receiving adequate formation in the faith at home from birth to six. You know its a problem. We know its a problem. In fact, it is the problem that brought us into working in discipleship formation in the first place. It is also a problem that leads to a lot of discouragement and burnout for leaders like you.

• What foundations look like and sound like at different ages.

• How to be alert for missing foundations.

Firm Foundations is a monthly live webinar series hosted by Tim and Heidi Indahl, founders of the Model of Maturing Discipleship. Both the model and the webinar series are designed to support parents, educators, pastors, and other catechetical leaders as they ensure that every child has an opportunity to unwrap the beauty of friendship with Jesus.
